March 25, 2021 - Tupulo, Mississippi - Elvis's Home Town

We spent the night in Tupulo which is famous for one thing:  the birthplace and hometown of Elvis Presley.

Elvis grew up in this two-room shotgun house that his father built.

The house is part of the Elvis Presley Birthplace Park.  There is also a museum and the actual church Elvis attended.  Nothing was open this morning, unfortunately.

In 1948 the Presley family moved to Memphis when Elvis was 13.

Did Elvis swing on this very same porch?

A car of the type the Presley family owned at one time.

The thing that strikes me about Elvis Presley is how young he died; he was only 42 years old.  Here is a man who had it all, yet years of prescription drug abuse and unhealthy eating habits severely compromised his health, and he died suddenly in 1977.  Sad.
